I have mentioned in previous posts that I had been working on another Spellbound in Sydney book, a new book after Spiritbound and Bespelled. Invoked has had an interesting journey. The first time I submitted it to the publisher. It sucked. It was rejected with comments. I then had to rework the thing! Significantly.
Lucky for me Kate Cuthbert’s comments were pretty spot on. So revising the book kicked my butt. I thought as it’s the tenth or twelfth book I had ever written that is should be easy right? Not this book. I pulled my hair. I wanted to forget about it, give up on it, but couldn’t. It took me time and angst to get it to where it needed to be. I did submit it, but then there were some more hurdles. Good news was it didn’t suck.
So finally I can tell you Invoked has been accepted for publication with Escape Publishing! It’s taken around 18 months from first submission.
Yipee! Happy dance.
What can I tell you about the book. It’s set in Lake Macquarie. Scenic portions of the story were cut in the rewrites!
The story features Bethanea, or Nea, who is Jake Royston’s cousin and Earl Pressonville, a warlock who is a little bit different. This story is a bit darker than the other two, and also builds a bit more of the world.
I don’t know when it will be out, but I’ll keep you up to date with what I know and cover etc.
