I’ve decided to work on a project for NanoWriMo, even though I have a few other things on the boil, like edits for Bespelled coming, house moving etc. Hell, I figure whatever I write is going to be contributing to the project, be it 2000 words or 20,000. I’ve made a start with 500 words, and I’m heading out soon to hang with writer friends and add a few more words and maybe have some wine, cheese, chips and laughs. Writing can be a social activity if you choose the right buddies. My partner is a writer and we do writing dates in cafes or the library. Although we haven’t done many lately. We’ll have to take that up again next year. I also do writing retreats with other writers once a year and I am usually pretty productive. At my most productive retreat I managed 80,000 words. it was the first cut of a novel.
So what am I working on?
I’ve called the novel Spiritbound and it’s set in the same world as Bespelled and stars Grace and Declan, two of the subsidiary characters. Grace is lovely in Bespelled and she was such a stand out that she needs her own story of how she and Declan got together. Grace is a very special witch, but things didn’t go all that smoothly for her in the path of love. I can’t tell you too much as it will spoil the book and give too much of Bespelled away.
Time to knuckle down and stop playing with the internets.
